Another Dan update. He is really carrying the site this month. I feel a little guilty about having not written anything in weeks, despite the fact that we have no readers. (No, Dan has not received any e-mails yet). |
I will make my long-awaited return in July. Until then, enjoy more of Dan. |

One more day. That is all the school I have left until September. Three exams down, one to go. Let me tell you, exams are no fun. So let's move on. |
In the category of Things That Are Fun is: baseball. The Month of Dan continues here at AoN today with the second edition of Mr. Kricke's seminal column on anything and everything, The Best Column, and it is about baseball. Now, let's pretend for a minute that the date is Monday, June 17 because this is actually when Dan sent me this column (he explicitly states this right in the first paragraph). He also makes references to "future" events that have actually already happened. Dan is not crazy -- at least not in this case. No, this is my fault. Those aforementioned exams have delayed this update, but now it is finally here. |
On a side note, when I first read this column and saw Dan's request for e-mails, I was predictably amused. "Is Dan actually naïve enough to think that people read this site?" I asked myself. "What are they putting into that Illinois water?" He insisted that he would receive at least one response; I maintained he would get nothing. Tune in next time to find out the winner. |

Earlier this week, it looked as if today--or rather yesterday, at this point--was shaping up to be one of the biggest school days in all of the days that I have gone to school. I had two History essays to write, one English essay, a Chemistry test, and the daunting task of progamming a Boggle applet using java. This all turned out to be rather anticlimactic, as the due dates for two of my essays and the java project were pushed back to Monday. However, for a few days, I actually felt some pressure to complete schoolwork, which is quite a new experience for me. Also, this is a drawn-out explanation of why I have not updated the site at all, even though this "Dan Kricke" fellow keeps on sending me things. |
So, since it is the weekend now, I have decided to catch up a little, and that begins with the posting of Dan's review of Terror Twilight, the final release from the infamous 1990's indie rock band Pavement. This is a good album. Dan and I both agree. Exactly how good? You will have to read the review to find out. |

Luke: Here is something new and exciting. Somebody else writing a main page update besides me! |
Dan: Hey kids, Dan here. Yes, the elusive Dan who writes nothing for one month and five things in five days the next month. I am that good. Luke has given me the honor of writing a main page update tonight, to introduce my column, so here we are. You should all read this column, not necessarily because it's better than Luke's column, but because it's called The Best Column, which provides the illusion that it is better. Cheers! |
Luke: If I were so inclined, I would make some Canadian/American wisecrack here on the subject of the spelling of "honour" -- I am not so inclined. |

It is time for a story. |
Once upon a time, there was a website named graphicv.com. It was a good site; it had a cult following (here, I use cult in the good way, not in the demented, Satan-worshipping kind of way). It lasted a long time -- perhaps since the invention of the Internet. Perhaps not. Then, all of the sudden, one day graphicv.com was dead. And so was aon.graphicv.com. So use the URL lukeaon.tripod.com from now on. The end. |
In other news, Dan is making up for not writing a single thing in May by sending me review after review. He has also written his first contribution to the Ramblings section of the site, so look for that in the next few days. As for today, you will have to be satisfied with a review of the 2000 release, It Had to do With Love by Koufax (the band, not the baseball pitcher). |

This is a monumental occasion. It is the First Ever Weekday Morning Update. I am sitting here in my school's library, feigning studiousness (the American Revolution is not very gripping). |
The other reason that this update is very monumental is: Dan bashed a CD. I thought it would never happen. The most phenomenal thing about this is that he did not just give it a 4.9 to appease my desire to have some red under his name on the reviews page. No, he went all out. What could have caused such a reaction from the man who likes everything? The Green Album, that's what. |

It is June. The months are just flying by now. Soon school will be out (if it isn't for you already), and soon after that school will return, and then end again. Then one day, there will be no more school, and that will be nice, but then there will be work -- it will proceed to go on for a while. Until death, pretty much. |
But I am rambling! Morbidly, at that. Rambling (not morbidly) is the order of the day, as I have added another column to my rapidly growing collection. It seems that these "official" Ramblings are becoming a monthly thing, which I had not intended. I will try to get another one done before school ends! After all, what is more important, those two essays I have due next week or RAMBLINGS? |
